Wyn and I were given this cottage to live in for free after we lost all our money. It really did have hearts carved out in the shutters. We left Ojai, and lived in this one room cottage for 15 months. It was beautiful. It was here we got on our feet, financially. Wyn found work he was good at that enabled us to pay back taxes and relax a little. The cottage was in the middle of a very swanky part of Montecito. No one had lived in it for years so the lawn was dead and the gophers had taken over the place, but one morning, these purple stalks began popping out of the ground. Within a week there was an entire field of Pink Naked Ladies every where you looked. How could I not paint them?
